Movies are back.
This newsletter is coming at an incredible time for not only the box office, but for the quality and diversity of the stories being told.
Our mission since the start has been to celebrate those stories and the artists that work to make them. In the past month, we have built off of that ethos in exciting ways.
Here is a snapshot of what has been happening, what we are working on now, and what is to come.
Jeopardy! Movie Edition Round 2
During our last meeting on August 13th, we met for the much anticipated second round of Jeopardy! Movie Edition. Earlier this year Round 1 was a great success, and we were all looking forward to the fun.
This time, we chose from six categories: Cameos, Movie Math, Stephen King, Wishbone, Twin Movies, and Same Day. Competition was fierce, and after a tense Final Jeopardy, a winning team was crowned.
First place received a $25 Cinemark Gift Card, second place a custom set of Willem Dafoe magnets, and third place two DVD’s from our “random DVD bag”. Mystery Box made a triumphant return; this time containing a limited edition poster from The Running Man (2026).
Library Display
August marked the first month of curating a display at Rockville Public Library. For a movie to be chosen for celebration in the display, the title needs to be either a new release or celebrating an anniversary.
For August, we chose Castle in the Sky (1986), Tony, and The End of Oak Street.
We used a public poll to pick September’s titles, and the entire list is impressive. Look for the updated display beginning the first week of September at Rockville Public Library.
Public Screenings
In what is the most exciting update to share, we have officially partnered with Rockville Public Library to begin repertory screenings of movies, free for the public. We will begin with two screenings in October; dates are being finalized now.

September Meeting
